The Ottery St Mary Christmas Tree Festival Begins!

27th November 2019

Today marks the first day of the Ottery St Mary Christmas Tree Festival! Over the past few years, Gilbert Stephens Solicitors have consecutively participated in the Festival and this year is certainly no exception.

Hosted by Friends of Ottery St Mary Parish Church, this event is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses and groups to decorate one of fifty-eight Christmas trees, each with a theme that is personal to them. This is the ninth year the Festival has been running and they have the highest number of trees yet.

This year was particularly poignant for Gilbert Stephens as Liz Govier, Solicitor at our Ottery St Mary office, not only passed away on this day last year but has also always decorated our Christmas tree. This year, her daughter and Support Administrator at our Exeter office, Claire Baker, has decorated our legal themed Christmas tree with her fiancé, Matt in memory of Liz.

Claire and Matt certainly did the firm proud with a tree decorated in colourful baubles, softly spinning logos and rolled wills, representing the legal documents that form our work and service to our communities. There was also a typewriter which was used in the office many years ago beneath the tree with a letter to Santa.

There are so many interesting creations this year that it would be impossible to describe them all. There is a Harry Potter themed Christmas tree, in addition to a beautiful memory tree decorated by Leah Marks Hair Design.

The Festival will run from today, Wednesday 27th November until Saturday 30th November from 11am until 5pm. The Church will also be staying open until 8pm this Friday 29th November if you wanted to take a look at all the fabulous trees during the Ottery St Mary Late Night Shopping.

Gilbert Stephens were very happy to be a part of the Christmas Tree Festival again this year and look forward seeing the creative events that will no doubt be hosted by The Friends of Ottery St Mary Parish Church in the coming year.
