Mansbridge Balment Charity Golf Day

10th September 2019

Last Friday 6th September, Gilbert Stephens Solicitors were delighted to be one of the sponsors at the Mansbridge Balment Charity Golf Day at Okehampton Golf Club. Mansbridge Balment estate agents have over 45 years of experience in the property market and have offices in Okehampton, Tavistock, Yelverton, and Bere Peninsula.

Despite the rain, it was a brilliant turn out with businesses from all over East Devon coming to support this wonderful charitable event. Philip Horlock, Solicitor at our Okehampton office and Dana Mulligan, Marketing Manager, attended the day and thoroughly enjoyed making new connections within the Okehampton community.

This year, the independent estate agency was proud to be fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West. Children’s Hospice provides wide ranging care for children with life-limiting conditions, in addition to supporting the child’s whole family. This fantastic charity offers a range of services including respite, short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care. The hospice costs over £3 million a year to run and the charity relies heavily on voluntary donations to raise this.

Philip Horlock was extremely touched when he was speaking to Sarah Nuttall-Worsley who spoke of the outstanding work the charity does. Sarah, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Children’s Hospice South West, says “we were absolutely delighted that CHSW was the beneficiary charity for the Golf Day. On behalf of all the children and families that we support, I would like to thank everyone who took part in the golf day, sponsored a hole and made donations. We really are grateful”.

Mansbridge Balment were hoping to raise £2,000 for the charity on Friday and have organised a raffle with a fantastic selection of prizes. Gilbert Stephens donated a dozen bottles of Hanlons Brewery ale in addition to several bottles of Sandford Orchards cider to the raffle.

Nick Henderson, Organiser of the Golf Day and Managing Director at Mansbridge Balment, expressed his gratitude to Gilbert Stephens saying “this was the second golf day we have organised for the hospice and, once again, it proved to be a tremendous success – great fun and a healthy sum to the charity afterwards. I can’t thank those who supported us enough”.

Thank you to Mansbridge Balment for giving us the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of the event and raise money for such a worthy cause which cares for over 500 families across the South West.
