Christmas has commenced in Ottery St Mary!

5th December 2019

On Friday 29th November, Gilbert Stephens’ Ottery office enjoyed staying open until late to participate in the town’s annual Late Night Shopping event. This event is a key date in Ottery’s festive calendar as it involves all local businesses coming together to illuminate the town in Christmas lights.

Many families enjoyed gathering in the town centre to see the Christmas Lights switch on, listen to the fantastic Ottery Silver Band, or take a ride on an authentic traction engine. We were pleased to be able to hand out mulled wine and warm mince pies again this year, whilst many waited with their children for a jaunt on the engine.

Tracie Bowden, Tim Leat, and Jessica Burgess, Chartered Legal Executives from our Ottery office, all thoroughly enjoyed serving the Ottery community with warm and delicious goods!

The event also featured Santa on his sleigh, a torchlight procession led by the La La Choir and Carnival Court, as well as a children’s treasure hunt with answers hidden in local shops.

Dana Mulligan, Marketing Manager, switched on the firm’s Christmas Lights at 6:40pm, in perfect sync with all other businesses in the square. Dana says, “the Ottery Late Night Shopping event is a fantastic way to start the Christmas festivities and offers an opportunity to bump into some old friends”.
