YMCA Gala Dinner

17th October 2019

Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are loyal supporters of the YMCA and are always pleased to participate in any of their local fundraising events. Last Friday 11th October, the firm demonstrated their support at the annual YMCA Gala Dinner, held at Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club.

This year’s Gala Dinner featured a silent auction, drinks reception, a fantastic three course meal followed by coffee, and fabulous entertainment from The Honest John Band. The keynote address, TEDX Speaker and Mental Health Champion Gill Hayes, also delivered a very engaging and heartening speech.

Alistair Heron, Partner from our Exeter office, attended the Gala Dinner with his wife, Rosie. Alistair says, “it was inspiring to hear about the work that Exeter YMCA is doing with mental health support and to listen to Gill Hayes, the keynote speaker, tell her own incredible story”.

Deep-rooted in Christian values, the YMCA are passionate about helping young people and children develop their full potential. This year, the Gala Dinner is in support of the YMCA’s multiyear Resilience Project, which has been established to help young people who are struggling to build their personal resilience and combat mental health obstacles.

So far, the evening has managed to raise a tremendous sum well in excess of £5,000!

Gilbert Stephens are pleased to have been invited to the Gala Dinner and are looking forward to supporting the YMCA again in the near future.
