VE Day 2020 – We Never Close

8th May 2020

Today, Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are proud to be commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe. On 8th May 1945, Winston Churchill announced that Britain and its Allies had formally accepted Germany’s surrender. At this moment, celebrations, street parties and mass gatherings broke out across the UK.

75 years on, whilst we are unable to celebrate in quite the same way as we did in 1945, Gilbert Stephens is delighted to be participating in the nationwide ‘stay at home’ party.

Here is a timeline of events for today’s celebration:

11am – 2 minutes silence on your doorstep

3pm – Churchill’s speech shown on BBC

4pm – Tea and scones or coffee and cake in the garden

6pm – Dinner and raise a glass to your neighbours

9pm – Nationwide sing-along to ‘We’ll meet again’ with Royal British Legion after the Queen’s address

We hope you will join us, and whilst you are reminded of Vera Lynn’s ‘We will meet again’ this evening at 9pm, we would like to assure you that at Gilbert Stephens, ‘We never close’.

Whilst our offices may have closed their doors, the firm remains open and will continue to support our new and existing clients throughout this uncertain time.
