St David’s Players Opening Night of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Grand Duke

10th October 2019

This year, Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are proud to be sponsoring the St David’s Players production of The Grand Duke at The Barnfield Theatre. The fabulous Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera narrates the tale of Ludwig, the leading comedian of the troupe, and his accession to ‘The Grand Duke’ title.

Earlier this week, several members of the firm were delighted to be invited along to the opening night of the play. Karen Oliver, Legal Secretary; James Bastyan, IT Manager; Susan Hein-Griggs, Legal Executive GCilex; and Kim McDonald, Partner, went to watch the performance and were extremely impressed with the satire’s hilarious characters, fast-moving action and Viennese waltz music.

Karen says “my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the play. A lovely theatre, great production, great music, fantastic voices, and lots of laughs. I think I sat through the entire performance with a smile on my face!”.

The St David’s Players were established in 1969 and have passionately embraced the arts and community ever since in their annual musical productions. This highly professional performance was worthy of the esteem of all, from the circles of the performing arts to the Exeter locals who enjoyed a night at The Barnfield Theatre for this event.

Thank you to St David’s Players for yet another excellent production and we very much look forward to seeing the St David’s Players again next year!

The Grand Duke will be showing at The Barnfield Theatre for the rest of this week at 7:30pm, or you can attend the matinée performance this Saturday at 2:30pm. Book your tickets here
