Remember a Charity Week 9th-15th September 2019

13th September 2019

Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are proud to support Remember a Charity Week who are celebrating their 10th Anniversary raising awareness of the significance of leaving a portion of your legacy to a charity or cause close to your heart.

Figures show that 74% of the British public support a charity during their lifetime. However, only 6.3% think to include that charity in their will. Remember a Charity Week encourages individuals who engage with charities throughout their lives to remember those charities in their will.

Legacies account for an astounding 70% of voluntary income to Arthritis Research, more than a quarter of all funding to the Woodland Trust and half of the RSPCA’s work, to name just a few. Your pledge could make an enormous difference to any size or type of charity you wish. What an incredible legacy it would be to continue to help save the lives of children or help to conserve our planet for the future.

Leaving money to a charity in your will not only supports good causes, it can reduce the amount of inheritance tax that is to be paid. Leaving a gift to your favourite charity when you die can make a lasting impact, and there are also tax advantages.

So, if you are yet to make a will or need to update your current will, we would like to invite you to consider the option of remembering a charity in your will and “pass on something wonderful”.

When writing a will, it’s essential you get the right advice. At Gilbert Stephens Solicitors we have many years of experience in drafting Wills, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney, Family Arrangements and Trusts.
