The Young Professionals Network annual drinks evening was held on the evening of Tuesday 29th November in the library at Gilbert Stephens Southernhay East office. The Firm were delighted to host the last event of the year to celebrate the forthcoming festive period over plenty of mulled wine and mince pies.

Gilbert Stephens Solicitors pledged support today for the Exeter Cycling Charter.

Members of Gilbert Stephens’ Young Professionals Network (YPN) recently hosted a tasty networking session at Exeter Cookery School, one of the region’s hottest new culinary destinations. Having been handed three recipes by the school’s head chef and tutor, Jim Fisher, the group was divided into teams and then let loose on the kitchen to create three festive canapés. Despite the look of sheer panic on some of their faces, with a little encouragement everyone was soon prepping like pros and surprised themselves by creating a veritable feast for the evening.

On Friday 7 October 2016, a team of private client lawyers and Financial Advisors from the firm Gilbert Stephens based in Mid and East Devon, attended a black tie dinner event hosted by the YMCA at Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf club in celebration of 170 years of the YMCA in Exeter. Read more…

On 6 October 2016, Gilbert Stephens entered a team of eight into the WESC Foundation Charity Quiz, billed as ‘The best charity pub quiz in Exeter’. The event was held at the WESC Foundation Campus, Topsham Road and after a shaky start, a few drinks and a buffet supper, the team managed to regain ground and finish a dignified 4th out of the 19 teams who entered. On Thursday 29th September, the Young Professional Network held their September event at Urban Underground, Urban Burger’s underground cocktail bar. The event was arranged in conjunction with Urban Underground’s launch of their “Urban High Tea”. Their twist on the more traditional Afternoon Tea saw members enjoying “tea” inspired cocktails (and mocktails for those driving) from teapots.

Gilbert Stephens Private Client team, lead by Richard Walford, Partner and in conjunction with Hawksmoor Investment management ran a series of complimentary seminars across three locations in Devon throughout September 2016.
Despite the unusually hot weather the seminars were well attended with lots of questions raised and answered on the day. The Devon cream tea was also well received after the presentations and discussions in the sessions.

The annual Okehampton Agricultural Show was lucky to be held on a glorious day this year and local law & financial services firm Gilbert Stephens met many of the shows visitors offering them a refreshing glass of PIMMS, strawberries & cream or a locally sourced pasty. Visitors could enter a prize draw for a John Deere pedal tractor and this was won by an Okehampton resident for her young son. The team from Gilbert Stephens saw strong support from existing clients and met many potential new clients, for both Legal and Financial aspects of the business. The firm looks forward to its attendance at the Chagford show later in August.
