Okehampton College Careers and Higher Education Fair

18th October 2019

Yesterday, on Thursday 17th October, Gilbert Stephens Solicitors were delighted to represent the firm at the Okehampton College Careers and Higher Education Fair. The day provided an opportunity for Year 10 and 11 students to interact with a wide range of experienced leading professionals and get a feel for what they might like to study at college or sixth form.

Chartered Legal Executives in the firm’s Conveyancing department, Antonia D’Alessio and Sarah Heath, represented Gilbert Stephens at the event. Both Antonia and Sarah were very impressed with the level of engagement from the students who were keen to find out about their prospective career options. Many students were also delighted to take home one of our Gilbert Stephens bags.

The Okehampton College Sports Hall was crowded with many displays to include Exeter College, Birmingham City University, Simpkins Edwards, Cygnet Theatre, Peninsula Pathways, Medical Mavericks, Plymouth Marjon University, Bicton College, Okeford Veterinary Centre, Guinness Care, and NCS, among many others.

Neil Sproats, Director of Sixth Form, says “it was great for the young people of Okehampton to have the opportunity to be able to speak first-hand to professionals from a range of sectors and industries. This chance to engage with real employers and training providers is much more powerful than just getting second-hand information from teachers. I am hugely thankful to all those who gave up their precious time to support our Careers Fair and for engaging so positively with our youngsters”.

Thank you to Okehampton College for inviting the firm to participate in yesterday’s event; we look forward to returning again next October.
