Farewell to Alastair Bates

2nd November 2020

Today we say a very fond farewell to Alastair Bates, Consultant Solicitor at our Sidmouth Office who has left the firm to enjoy a well-earned and much deserved retirement. We would like to say a huge thank you to Alastair for all the hard work and dedication he has put in over the years, he has been an invaluable member of our team.

Alastair read history at Cambridge University and qualified as a Solicitor in 1984. Specialising in wills, residential and commercial property, Alastair worked with several firms in Devon (including Gilbert Stephens for a short time as a newly qualified solicitor!) before becoming Partner with Mossop & Whitham in 2000. He continued as a Partner when the firm merged with Gilbert Stephens in 2004 and stepped down from partnership to continue as a Consultant in 2013.

Terry Bastyan, Managing Partner said, “Alastair has been a valued and dedicated member of the Sidmouth office for 20 years. His calm and pleasant manner was greatly valued by clients and colleagues. We are grateful that many members of our team have benefitted from working alongside someone whose experience has been invaluable in supporting them to become the lawyers they are today. We wish Alastair a long and happy retirement”.
