Crediton Parish Church Flower Festival

31st May 2019

Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are proud to be sponsors of the Crediton Parish Church Flower Festival from Saturday 1st – Thursday 6th June 2019. Crediton Parish Church will be filled with floral displays showcasing the skills of local flower arrangers in and around the magnificent Grade 1 listed gothic church.

This year’s theme is ‘Colours of the Wind’ and displays will be diverse, including references to ‘Candle in the Wind’, the Red Arrows, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day and the ‘Lungs of the City’. The festival will also include two concerts this year. The Tedburn Community Choir will be entertaining visitors with an evening of popular music on Saturday 1st June at 7.30pm and the Crediton Town Band will perform on Wednesday 5th at 7.00pm.

The Flower Festival has been a fixture of Crediton’s social calendar since the 1970s and is one of the main fundraising events that support the upkeep of the spectacular, nationally important 15th century church, the former cathedral of the Bishop of Crediton. It is an important occasion for the Crediton Parish Church and local community, offering a chance for visitors from far and wide to recognise the building’s historical and cultural heritage.

Previous year’s festivals have featured floral displays that have included a decorated 1927 Baby Austin filled with flowers and a full-sized model of a rhino squeezed into the church. The festival has inspired exciting and spectacular arrangements that simultaneously complement and contrast with the gothic surroundings of the church.
