Bonkers Conkers Competition at Lloyd’s Kitchen28th October 2019
Brewin Dolphin hosted their annual ‘Bonkers Conkers’ competition for the fifth year running on Thursday 24th October at city centre restaurant, Lloyd’s Kitchen.
You can’t beat a good game of conkers and Gilbert Stephens Solicitors took part again this year alongside different businesses keen to take home the coveted King Conker trophy.
Antonia D’Alessio, Chartered Legal Executive; Mandy Vickery, Accounts Assistant; Sue Elford, Accounts Assistant and Sarah Heath, Chartered Legal Executive, formed the highly competitive ‘May Contain Nuts’ team. They had a fantastic run and a lot of fun along the way, making it to the Semi Finals, where unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they were unable to win the Trophy. Here’s hoping they will have more success next year!
The event was hosted to help raise funds for Brewin Dolphin’s Charity of the Year, Jay’s Aim. This is a local charity set up in memory of Jay Osborne who died suddenly from a cardiac arrest caused by an undiagnosed hereditary heart condition. The aim is to reduce the number of young people who die of sudden cardiac death in the South West of England, an objective that is hoped can be met by their three aims: Assess, Inform and Make a Difference.
Assess: Provide information on how you can check if you or a loved one might be suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition.
Inform: Spread knowledge of cardiac conditions in the young.
Make a Difference: Provide emergency life-saving equipment and life-saving training.
Gilbert Stephens’ Mandy Vickery said “the annual Bonkers Conkers competition is a fun and unique networking event which allows professionals to establish connections over a traditional game of conkers. It’s also a great opportunity to raise funds for Jays Aim, a fantastic and very well deserving charity. I look forward to taking part again next year”.
